CHP Community Amenities
Welcome to Chestnut Hill Plantation, where the pleasures of quiet, suburban life are tantalizingly close to everything that is wonderful about Columbia.
Our Neighborhoods
Chestnut Hill Plantation is made up of more than 700 homes of various sizes and styles, spread across eleven different neighborhoods within the community. Nestled around the thoroughfare of Lost Creek Drive, the majority of our side streets offer much desired cul-de-sac living. Our residents come from all walks of life, and include all ages and many different cultures. Are you moving here from out of state? CHP is home to residents who have moved here not only from other parts of South Carolina, but also from all over the USA – and beyond! Our diversity, care for our neighbors, and shared interest in making CHP a wonderful place to live all make this a much desired community.
Suburban Living, Close To Everything
Located on the northwestern edge of Columbia near the town of Irmo, Chestnut Hill Plantation is a convenient five minutes away from grocery stores, pharmacies, a gas station, and a variety of restaurants. CHP is within 3.5 miles of Palmetto Health Parkridge Hospital, access to Interstate 26, and Harbison Boulevard, where you will find the Columbiana Mall, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Target, Wal-mart, and a generous selection of other shops, restaurants, and movie theaters. Downtown Columbia is a mere 20 minutes away, enticing visitors with eclectic shops and restaurants to suit every taste, parks, historical homes and buildings, museums, the USC Campus, and the Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
For those who love the outdoors, we are a short drive from Harbison State Forest (hiking, mountain biking), the Irmo town parks (walking paths, playground, picnic areas, and beautiful landscaping), Lake Murray (boating. fishing. town beaches, and a very popular walking path on the dam), the Broad River (boating and fishing), and the Saluda River (boating, fishing, and tubing).
A Homeowners’ Association, Without The HOA Feel…
Worried about belonging to an HOA and being governed by strict rules? Our HOA strikes a comfortable balance between allowing homeowners personal expression, while maintaining high standards of community living. Our volunteer HOA board meets monthly to discuss community life, issues, and to answer residents’ questions.
The Convenience Of Public Utilities
As residents of the city of Columbia, all Chestnut Hill Plantation homes benefit from city water and sewer services, as well as weekly trash and recycling collection. We also enjoy the added perk of yard trimming/household item pick up each week, so trips to the local refuse centers to get rid of leaves and large household goods are a thing of the past! Many of our homes also feature clean and efficient natural gas heating.

Community Spirit
Community Spirit abounds here at CHP, and it shows not only in our care for our neighborhoods, homes, and neighbors, but also in our desire to make CHP a pleasurable place to live. Our various volunteer committees work hard to provide community extras, such as family movie nights, holiday events, tennis clubs, neighborhood-wide yard sales, book club, and much more. Find out more about each community event by checking out the local calendar here.
An Environment That Is In Harmony With Nature
Built on rolling terrain, Chestnut Hill Plantation boasts beautiful public areas abundant with professionally maintained trees, shrubbery, and flowers. In spring, the community is an explosion of color as trees begin to blossom and flowers begin budding. In the summer, the many trees provide cooling shade from the famous Columbia heat, as well as a sense of serenity far away from the bustle of the city.
Go For A Walk
Enjoy the well laid out sidewalks and walking paths along our main roads – the perfect place to get some exercise, or take a leisurely stroll with family. Take pleasure in the beauty of our landscaping as you walk down our main road, Lost Creek Drive. Does your dog like to walk as well? The community provides doggie sanitation stations for your, and Fido’s, convenience.

Take A Hike
In the mood to explore the woodlands surrounding the neighborhood? Located next to the tennis courts, you will find the main trailhead to the hiking trails, as well as a billboard with hiking information to get you started on your adventure. Natural hiking paths wind throughout the community, around lakes, behind neighborhoods, and along the Broad River, allowing residents the opportunity to enjoy the splendor of nature in their own backyards. While hiking, you may glimpse some of the wildlife that reside in the area, including deer, rabbits, beavers, eagles, hawks, cranes, a wide variety of songbirds, and other small creatures.
Boating And Fishing Access, Just For Residents
Residents enjoy access to a private, gated lake within the community, perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and small boating. Relax on the water, while still being close to home! The lake features a boat ramp, pier, and a covered gazebo which extends over the water. Don’t forget to bring your fishing poles, because the lake is fully stocked for fishing. Resident parking is available for cars/trucks and boat trailers.
At the clubhouse complex, residents can access the Broad River via a private, gated road. A ramp at the end of the road provides easy transition for boats into and out of the river, and there is abundant resident parking for cars/trucks and boat trailers. Enjoy cruising, fishing, and observing the local wildlife.
Clubhouse And Community Complex
The centerpiece of the community complex is the beautiful, stone-faced Clubhouse, which blends in beautifully with the natural surroundings. The clubhouse comes furnished and includes a kitchen, restrooms, and beautiful, stately stone fireplace. Large glass doors overlook the central pond and lawns, and the high ceiling gives the building an airy feel. The clubhouse may be rented by CHP residents, and is a lovely spot for baby showers, birthday parties, and holiday gatherings.
Pool
Our junior Olympic-sized pool is a great place to relax on those hot summer days. With plenty of tables and lounge chairs, as well as a covered gazebo, there is plenty of space to catch some rays or just hang out with friends. The entire pool area is fenced in for safety and is accessed via a resident-only fob. For our youngest residents, we also have a separate children’s wading pool. Our pool complex also includes restrooms and free wi-fi. Don’t be surprised if you see some of the neighborhood ducks peeping through the fence to see all the fun!
Tennis Courts & Pickleball Courts
Tennis anyone? The community complex includes four enclosed, lighted tennis and pickleball courts for your game pleasure. Courts can be accessed 24 hours a day via a resident-only code. Play with friends, or join one of the neighborhood teams.
Playground
Our outdoor playground provides everything little kids (and kids at heart!) could want to have fun! Children can frolic on the swings, a jungle gym, an activity structure with slides, and a twirling seat, all within the safety of a fenced and gated play yard. Parents can join in the fun, or keep an eye on little ones while relaxing at the playground picnic table.
Fields And Green Areas
Surrounding the clubhouse, pool, and playground, you will find beautiful lawns that overlook one of the ponds – a perfect place to sit and relax, or picnic, while watching the many birds that frolic in the pond.
Next to the tennis courts and hiking entrance is the great field, which provides plenty of space for games of touch football, soccer, or Frisbee.
Ponds
Five small ponds surround the clubhouse complex, complimenting the natural beauty of the area as well as providing homes to aquatic life, including ducks, cranes, turtles, and fish. The ponds are a great place to introduce your child to the joys of fishing.
